How do you tell the story of yourse lf without resorting to reading your CV or resume?
How many times eac h semester are you asked to go around and share something about yourselves (your interests, your research, your life outside academia, etc)?
How does audience, structure, and sustainability play a role in your d ecisions about what to include or not include when sharing your narrative?
This interactive workshop introduces you to the process of reflectin g and translating your scholarly self to others. Together, we will explor e the differences between personal and scholarly narratives and work to id entify key components that can be included in your own narrative. This wor kshop will give you space to contextualize the relationship between audien ce, structure, and sustainability into your own narratives. Depending on the audience, the context, or where we are at in life, what we include in our story and what platforms we take up to share that story might chan ge. Thus, at the end of this workshop we will review a variety of tools a nd platforms that can be used to publicly share your narrative(s).
Th is intensive is being followed up with a series of co-works meant to engag e individuals in regular, collaborative, focused meetups. In these co-wo rk sessions we will work in community around a topic, one of which will b e putting the information from this series into action.
