The event consists of a one-day intensive boot camp for participants to learn about tools for managing their digital identity, d iscuss the uses and issues, and learn to implement these in order to impr ove their identity online. The boot camp will begin with a brief review o f the concepts of digital identity management. Following this, a number of tools will be reviewed including Twitter, Facebook, Academia.edu, Li nkedIn, About.me, and personal websites such as WordPress. Each of thes e will be introduced and discussed in terms of its professional and educat ional use. Next, the individuals participating in the boot camp will hav e the opportunity to use the tools, develop them to fit their identity, and help each other learn how to use them. The goal of the boot camp is t o give participants a jumpstart into managing their digital identity by be ing introduced to tools, discussing their uses and using the tools themse lves. By the end of the boot camp, attendees will have a general unders tanding of what they want their digital identity to look like and how to u se the tools to achieve this.
