On November 18th, Ford Fut urist Sheryl Connelly will be on campus for a series of talks about “How t o Think like a Futurist”. In the afternoon she will be giving a lecture to interested students. The student lecture at 2:00pm will be titled “The AB Cs of Generation XYZ and what it means for the Future of Work”.
“The ABCs of Generation XYZ and what it means for the Future of Work”: Most of us know what makes a Baby Boomer a Baby Boomer. However, the generationa l distinctions between Generations X, Y and Z are much less clear. In thi s session, Sheryl Connelly will review the formative events that have sha ped the values of generations across America and explore what impact these shifts in values may have on the future of work.
Sheryl Connelly h as served as Ford Motor Company’s Futurist for over a decade. She is respo nsible for identifying global trends, exploring potential implications an d cascading the futuring insights to organizations throughout the company , including design, product development and corporate strategy. She is a member of the Global Advisory Council on transportation for the World Eco nomic Forum. Fast Company magazine named her one of the Most Creative Peop le in Business in 2013 and 2015. She has been a featured speaker at TED Gl obal, appeared on CBS This Morning with Charlie Rose, CNBC’s Fast Money and NPR’s All Things Considered with Robert Siegel. Before working for For d, she practiced law. In addition to a Juris Doctorate, she holds a bach elor’s degree in finance and a master’s in business administration. When h er schedule permits, she teaches design research at the Center for Creati ve Studies in Detroit, Michigan.
