The MSU Postdoctorate Association (PDA) Steering Committee will also provide discussion on ongoing work as an organization and provide an engaging brief professional development activity for the attendees during the ceremony.

What are the the Postdoctoral Excellence Awards?
The MSU Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation award annually the Postdoctoral Excellence in Research Award (PERA) to two exceptional Postdoctoral Researchers for their contributions to MSU and the greater research community e Postdoctoral Excellence in Teaching and/or Mentoring Award (PETMA) to two exceptional Postdoctoral Scholars for their contribution in promoting the success and development of undergraduate and/or graduate students at MSU.
What is the the Postdoctorate Association Steering Committee?
The MSU-PDA Steering Committee is a group of postdoc volunteers, whose mission is to:
Promote and provide opportunities for career and professional development of postdocs at MSU.
Disseminate information relevant to MSU postdocs
Organize opportunities for interactions between MSU postdocs.

Practical Pedagogical Advice for Teaching in the Aftermath of Tragedy

We invite you to the VIPP Brown Bag: “Practical Pedagogical Advice for Teaching in the Aftermath of Tragedy” on Wednesday, March 22 from 12-1pm in room N24 Wonders Hall (basement level). The discussion will be led by Dr. Lorelei Blackburn, assistant professor in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric and American Cultures and a Trauma Informed Champion with MSU Trauma Services and Training Network (TSTN). During this presentation we will discuss the broad effects of trauma and specifically identify the effects of trauma on learning. We will then consider the affordances of trauma-informed pedagogy. Finally, we will discuss practical pedagogical approaches to teaching in the aftermath of tragedy. You can learn more about MSU Trauma Services and Training Network at tstn.msu.edu.
