Practical Pedagogical Advice for Teaching in the Aftermath of Tragedy
We invite you to the VIPP Brown Bag: “Practical Pedagogical Advice for Teaching in the Aftermath of Tragedy” on Wednesday, March 22 from 12-1pm in room N24 Wonders Hall (basement level). The discussion will be led by Dr. Lorelei Blackburn, assistant professor in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric and American Cultures and a Trauma Informed Champion with MSU Trauma Services and Training Network (TSTN). During this presentation we will discuss the broad effects of trauma and specifically identify the effects of trauma on learning. We will then consider the affordances of trauma-informed pedagogy. Finally, we will discuss practical pedagogical approaches to teaching in the aftermath of tragedy. You can learn more about MSU Trauma Services and Training Network at tstn.msu.edu.
Light refreshments will be provided. Please contact vipp@msu.edu if you have any questions. See the attached flyer for further details.
