Join the MSU PDA Steering Committee

The MSU-PDA is looking for new Steering Committee members for the 2022-2023 year!

Steering Committee Members have the opportunity:

  • To act as a liaison between MSU postdocs and MSU administration.
  • To work with the MSU-OPA to promote and provide opportunities for career and professional development of postdocs at MSU.
  • To disseminate information relevant to MSU postdocs.
  • To organize opportunities for interactions between MSU postdocs.

PUBLIC MONTHLY MEETINGS

On the last Tuesday of the month, from 9am to 10am, members of the MSU-PDA Steering Committee meet:

  • To discuss areas of concern to the MSU postdoc community
  • To plan MSU-PDA events
  • To provide Sub-Committee updates
  • To provide information relevant and useful to the MSU postdoc community

All members of the MSU postdoc community are welcome attend these meetings via Zoom (link here).

It’s time to elect the Michigan State University Postdoctoral Association (MSU-PDA) Steering Committee leadership for 2022-2023!

The goal of the MSU-PDA Steering Committee is to provide representation and a collective voice to address the concerns and advocate for the needs of MSU postdocs. The MSU Office of Postdoctoral Affairs acknowledges the exceptional contribution of postdocs to the MSU community by offering a variety of awards to support postdoc travel and recognize postdoc excellence. The current cycle for funding applications runs until June 29.

2022 MSU POSTDOC SURVEY DEADLINE JUNE 17

Your feedback is vital so we have extended the deadline

(June 17th)

In 2021 the MSU Postdoctoral Association (MSU-PDA) surveyed MSU postdocs to get feedback and suggestions regarding our communications and programming. The responses to these surveys were invaluable, and have helped guide our focus and efforts across the years. This included instituting our weekly update email, offering new event formats, and advocating for the establishment of an Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (MSU-OPA).

The MSU-PDA, together with the MSU-OPA, are now asking for your feedback again.

We would like to assess your overall engagement and satisfaction with the current MSU-PDA and MSU-OPA communications and programming. The data collected will guide our future efforts, and will help set the responsibilities/expectations for the MSU-PDA and MSU-OPA. Additionally, we hope to gather information about postdoc representation in committees or other decision-making groups at department/program/unit/college/university levels across MSU. This information will also be used to identify gaps in, and advocate for, additional postdoc representation and support.

Response are anonymous! The estimated time commitment for completing the survey is 5-10 min, and responses will be collected until Friday June 17th, 2022 at 11:59PM ET.
